Report in Eswatini Oberserver dated May 18. 05. 2020
THOMAS ENGEL-Stiftung continues to support the project “Litsemba”. We are happy about people appreciating our work in the country. And yet we must put straight: ...
Clarification
As the article documents, the THOMAS ENGEL-Stiftung has made a difference to many children in eSwatini, especially in terms of the “Litsemba” (Hope) Project. The Litsemba Project supports more than 2800 children in 88 Neighbourhood Care Points (NCPs). While we are happy that this article documents the importance of the Foundation’s work in eSwatini we would like to clarify a couple of misconceptions that may be gained from the article:
- When reading this article, people might get the impression that the TTHOMAS ENGEL-Stiftung is the only supporter of the “Litsemba” Project. Actually, while in fact, there are three supporters, all of which share in decision making and financial support, namely Möwenweg-Foundation, Kindernothilfe e. V. and the THOMAS ENGEL-Stiftung.
- The financial information is at times confusing and potentially misleading. E in the headline of the article stands for “Emalangeni” the local currency. In the smaller headline to the right side of the article E refers to “Euro.” Additionally, both financial amounts are wrong; money was not donated just one time. As a matter of fact, the Möwenweg-Foundation and the THOMAS ENGEL-Stiftung together transfer at least 10,000 Euros a month. Due to the Corona Virus, at the present time most of the money is dedicated to the immediate and pressing need of providing food for the children.
