| 1993 | End of professional education „laboratory assistant in textile chemistry and technology“. |
| 1999 | Marriage with Sandija Engel-Balode on April 21st. On July Thomas is diagnosed with cancer followed by several months of treatment and stay in the University hospital of Heidelberg. On September 25th birth of daughter Agnes in Wiesbaden. |
| 2003 | Divorce of marriage with Sandija Engel-Balode. Agnes stays with Thomas and his parents. The disease advances despite various therapies. |
| 2008 | Thomas dies on May 25th at home in Fulda with his family being present. |
